Mark Itkin, the man almost single-handedly responsible for America’s reality television obsession, has set his sights on the real estate business since retiring last year from William Morris Endeavor. The 35-year television veteran and his partner, interior designer Bradley Bayou, recently listed two luxury properties in New York City and Los Angeles.

The New York property, listed at $14.95 million, is a 6,600-square-foot single-family in Chelsea that was configured as seven apartments when the couple purchased it for $4.95 million two years ago. Making use of Bayou’s design acumen, they reimagined and renovated the Greek Revival townhome into a four-bedroom eight-bath with floor-to-ceiling back windows, a garden-floor great room and kitchen with center island, a parlor level featuring dining and living areas, a basement with a media center, wine cellar, gym and laundry room and a penthouse bedroom opening to a roof terrace.

The Los Angeles home, in the ultra-pricey showbusiness enclave of Bird Streets, was completely designed by Bayou and features hand-cut stone walls, a skylit foyer, limestone floors, a screening room, a bar with lounge area and a four-car garage. Itkin and Bayou bought the property in 2011 for $1.6 million, knocking down the 1960s-era ranch before putting up the 7,500-square-foot contemporary. Also included in the five-bedroom, six-and-a-half bath home are a top-of-the-line kitchen, formal dining and living rooms, a bronze-fronted fireplace and a multi-tiered pool with spa. The house is listed for $16.5 million.

Aside from setting up the production team behind MTV’s Real World and packaging shows like The People’s Court, Project Runway and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Itkin also had a hand in the foreign reality show import game, helping usher Big Brother, Fear Factor and Hell’s Kitchen onto U.S. airwaves.
