BMW’s M division has come out with a new luxury sedan, the M760Li xDrive, and it enters into a specialized market with another BMW unveiled recently, the Alpina B7 Biturbo.
The M760Li features a 6.6-liter twin turbo V12 engine that pushes out 600 horsepower and an impressive 590 pound-feet of torque. The newest car from the M team hits zero-to-62 mph in only 3.9 seconds and has an electronically-restricted top speed of 155 mph. And if customers don’t like that restriction, there is an optional M Driver’s Package that boosts the top speed to 189 mph. All of that power plugs into an eight-speed transmission that has been specially developed to work with the engine.
While the Alpina Biturbo has a top speed just over 3 mph faster than the M760Li version, top speed is really a little bit of a trivial issue when it comes to a super luxurious and heavy limousine-like vehicle.
On the exterior the 760Li isn’t that different from a usual BMW 7-Series; only an M Performance bumper, 20-inch wheels, and V12 emblems on the body give away the secret.
BMW has yet to release pricing information for the M760Li xDrive.
