Iowa’s Most Expensive Listing Has an Irish Pub Inside

The Hawkeye State’s most expensive listing has several unique features, but the most unique amenity in this $13.8 million home is a full-size Irish pub complete with a pool table, stage, and room for 150 rowdy patrons.

“Some people might have a bar, some people might have a wet bar, but no one has a pub in their house,” said listing agent Eric Hoien.

The home’s owner, Tom Bedell, went to great lengths to ensure that his in-home Irish pub was as authentic as possible. He and his architect, lead contractor, and a cabinetmaker actually made a trip to Ireland and went from pub to pub to ensure what they build is as close to the real thing as possible.

If you need more room than the pub has to offer for your parties, there is also a sky-lit room for holding fundraisers with a stage and enough room to house 500 people.

The mansion has a total of 25,000 square feet of living space. It has nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a boat dock, a home theater, tons of floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the nearby lake, an art studio, and a caterer’s kitchen. It took 140 contractors two years to construct.

The home has been on the market for over a year awaiting a buyer.
