Russian Company Gresso Launches $3,000 Titanium Android Smartphone

Russian phone maker Gresso tried its hand at titanium-based smartphones last year and has now improved upon their original creation with the Gresso Regal R1.

With the body completely crafted from titanium, this is not your typical fragile luxury smartphone. It takes eight long hours to craft the titanium case, which significantly increases the phone’s durability. The titanium is polished for three hours so the metal looks nice and has a pleasing texture. The casing is wrapped around the phone and secured with titanium screws.

Unlike the many luxury smartphones that lack in specs, the Regal R1 is well-appointed. It has a 1080p screen made from durable Gorilla Glass, a 1.5 GHz quad-core porcessor, a 13MP camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, 32GB of internal storage, and runs Android 4.2 OS. All this is packed in a phone that is only about .35 inches thick.

The Gresso Regal R1 can be purchased from Gresso’s website. It is a limited-edition smartphone. Only 999 pieces have been made. They cost around $3,000 each.
