Philippe Starck has designed speakers, couches, and hard drives, and he has now turned his attention to the world of electric bikes.
Starck, in collaboration with Moustache Bikes, has designed a collection of electric bikes, with matching helmets and accessories. His designs were unveiled at the Eurobike convention in Germany at the end of August. Each of the four bikes in the collection have their own set of specs and offer matching helmets, gloves, and sacks.
Called Mud, Asphalt, Sand, and Snow, the bikes are named for the terrain that they are specifically suited for. Mud has a dual-suspension frame and optimized gears making it ideal for off-roading. Asphalt is designed for speed so you can keep up in busy urban settings. Sand has up-sized tires with better grip so their is no sliding in loose sand or rain. Snow features a mono-arm fork for clearing snow, XTR brakes and gearing for pin-point stopping on ice and a fur frame battery cover so the battery is not damaged due to freezing temperatures.
Details on pricing and upcoming availability have yet to be released.
