The idea of a smartwatch is anything but new. In fact, Hewlett Packard made one in 1977.

The HP-01 was an electronic wristwatch that had many of the same features we use our smartphones for today like a 200-year calendar, stopwatch, calculator, alarm clock, and a digital time display. The HP-01 can be seen below in all of its restored glory.

Smartwatches look like they are going to be taking over the luxury tech market. Amazon, Verizon, and Samsung have already gotten into the game and if Apple Watch catches on, smartwatches may be the tablets and cellphones of the future.
