Nespresso has added new intense flavors to their Grand Cru line of coffee: Kazaar and Dharkan.
The coffees are intense, breaking Nespresso’s intensity rating scale going beyond the highest rating of 10, with Kazaar getting an 11 and Dharkan getting a 12. The intense coffees are not bitter. Nespresso has used a new grinding method and a split roasting technology to avoid bitterness.
Kazaar was blended from 2 different Robustas. One from Guatemala and the other a Conillon from Brazil. A smooth drying approach was used to ward off bitterness, while the sweetness can be attributed to the addition of a Brazilian Arabica. Dharkan is roasted for a long time at a low temperature for an intense flavor. Washed Arabicas from Latin America and Asia were used and provide a chocolate-like taste.
Kazaar and Dharkan are permanent additions to the Grand Cru line and are available at Nespresso stores from September on-wards.
