Savioz Fabrizzi Architecte renovated a rural stone building dating back to the 1800s. The Swiss residence in Chamoson has a rugged exterior, with the exception of the modern windows. However, the inside has been completely modernized.
An insulating layer of concrete based on foamed recycled glass was applied on the inside to act as the load-bearing structure. The timber weatherboarding was replaced with insulating concrete imprinted with the original timber texture. Thermal insulation, controlled ventilation, and energy from renewable sources was also added. Minimal work has been done to the outside of the home.
